The Hawks began the game comfortably, dominating possession and controlling the pace of the game in the early stages.

Leon Maloney created the Hawks’ first real chance, taking the ball off Callum Kealy’s feet to the surprise of the defenders and unleashing a shot that just sailed over the bar.

Some great play from the Hawks down the right-hand side resulted in a dangerous cross from Dockerill flashing across the face of the goal. Unfortunately, no one was there to capitalize on the chance.

The Hawks had strong appeals for a penalty waved away after Sidwell had his feet taken from underneath him from an attempted Hungerford clearance inside the box, but the referee awarded only a corner.

HALF TIME: HAVANT AND WATERLOOVILLE 0-0 HUNGERFORD TOWN

Maloney delivered a dangerous cross from deep, finding McNerney in the box, but the defender’s header failed to test the Hungerford goalkeeper.

Whittingham came closest to breaking the deadlock when his header struck the post. A goalmouth scramble followed, but Hungerford managed to clear the danger.

The Hawks squandered a golden opportunity when Ryan Seager rounded the Hungerford goalkeeper and set up Sidwell with an open goal, but Sidwell’s strike went wide of the target.

Despite their dominance, the Hawks were unable to find the back of the net and had to settle for a point in a match where their missed chances proved costly. Despite that, two consecutive clean sheets is something to build on for the Hawks heading into their next game on Wednesday night against Hanwell Town.
