The opening 10 minutes were evenly matched with both teams searching for weaknesses in each other’s defences. This was until a shot from outside the box from the Hawks hit the post and ricocheted off the AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper’s back, resulting in a corner.

A couple of long-range shots from Wimbledon were again easily saved by Dudzinski followed by a through ball by the visitors putting one of their attackers through. A great recovery tackle from Devante Stanley cleared the danger for Havant.

The half continued with a few opportunities for each side but little in the way of any clear cut chances.

With around 5 minutes left in the first half the Hawks began to make their pressure count, with Ryan Seager being put through 1 on 1 with the Wimbledon goalkeeper. However, he recovered well and the ball eventually went out for a corner. Another 1 on 1 opportunity for the Hawks soon followed; Callum Kealy was put through, attempting a lob on the keeper but it went over the bar and onto the top of the net.

There was just enough time in the half for another 1 on 1 with the Wimbledon goalkeeper with the chip coming from Harvey Bradbury and just being cleared off the line by the Wimbledon defender.

The Hawks dominated the ball in the first half and took control of the game, limiting the visitors to speculative shots from distances which were easily saved by Ben Dudzinski.

HALF TIME: HAVANT AND WATERLOOVILLE 0-0 AFC WIMBLEDON

The highlight of an uneventful second half came around 10 minutes after the break when a penalty was awarded to Wimbledon after the Hawks were adjudged to have handled the ball. It was saved by Dudzinski with a big hand down to his right, and then safely collecting the ball in his arms.

A late flurry of crosses from the Hawks didn’t amount to much. However, in the last seconds of the game #10 went through on goal but unfortunately hit the post, denying him of a last-minute match winner. Havant and Waterlooville will play their last home friendly of pre-season on Wednesday night against Moneyfields.
