Sadly, one of our Hawks Women’s First Team players has had a setback in football life. Jess Key has recently received the horrible news that her knee injury is worse than first thought.
On 21st September, Jess was representing The Hawks in the Adobe FA Women’s Cup when she suffered a serious knee injury. The following day she went to minor injuries and was told it was an MCL sprain. Over the next two months Jess carried on as normal and even returned to training. However, during her last session at the end of November, Jess felt discomfort again, so decided to have an MRI scan to get some clear answers.
Unfortunately, the results weren’t what was hoped for. Jess has ruptured her ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament), along with an MCL sprain and a meniscus tear. This has been the biggest setback for Jess and it has been incredibly difficult both physically and mentally. As it’s already been 4 months since the injury and the NHS waiting list for surgery could be up to a year, Jess is hoping to go private so she can start her recovery as soon as possible.
Jess has started a GoFundMe page to help raise money towards the required treatment to get her back on the pitch. If you are able to help in any way, even a share of this post, we will be extremely grateful. We are all right behind you Jess!
