The Hawks started brightly despite the awful conditions. Inside the opening two minutes, Seager found space at the near post for the game’s first big chance, but his effort skimmed wide.
Following a positive opening 15 minutes for the home side, Weymouth grew into the half and forced Lorenz Ferdinand into a sharp save from a free kick, but chances remained limited at both ends.
Havant controlled long spells of possession yet couldn’t find the breakthrough, sending the match into half-time goalless, but with plenty of positives to build on.
HALF TIME: HAVANT AND WATERLOOVILLE 0-0 WEYMOUTH
The Hawks came out with intent in the second half when Seager teed up Maloney on the edge of the area, his driven strike forcing Clark into action.
Just a couple of minutes later, a moment of real quality nearly produced the opener: a delightful backheel from Owusu released Laidlaw, whose cross found the diving Seager, but the finish drifted agonisingly wide.
The breakthrough finally came for the Hawks with around 20 minutes left in the game. After Seager wriggled free and threaded Pendlebury in behind, his low, inch-perfect cross found Maloney, who slammed home emphatically to put the Hawks 1–0 up.
The Hawks managed the game superbly from there, staying organised and disciplined. And deep into stoppage time, they sealed the victory. Captain Seager once again provided the platform with excellent hold-up play, leading to a ball flashed across goal for Ethan Giwa-McNeil, who tapped in to make it 2–0 and secure all three points.
It was a fully deserved win for the Hawks, built on hard work, structure, and collective determination. Next up for the Hawks is the visit of Chertsey to Westleigh Park on Wednesday night.
