The Hawks made a quick start to the match, taking the lead inside the opening ten minutes. A cleverly worked free-kick routine found Olly Pendlebury in space on the edge of the box, and he made no mistake, rifling a superb strike into the top corner to make it 1-0.
Midway through the half, the Hawks doubled their advantage. Ethan Giwa-McNeil forced a strong save from visiting goalkeeper Morris, but as the rebound spilled loose, George Milner-Smith was bundled over in the box. The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, and Harvey Bradbury calmly converted to put his side firmly in control.
With the momentum on their side, the Hawks continued to control the game. They created a series of half-chances without adding to their tally. The pressure finally told again just before the interval, with a flowing team move carving open the defence. Ryan Seager drove forward before releasing Bradbury, who switched play to Giwa-McNeil. Cutting inside, he unleashed a thunderous strike, giving the Hawks a deserved 3-0 lead at the break.
HALF TIME: HAVANT AND WATERLOOVILLE 3-0 COLDEN COMMON
The Hawks carried their attacking momentum into the second half and almost extended their lead just before the hour mark. Ethan Giwa-McNeil slipped a perfectly weighted ball into the path of Seager, whose low strike beat the goalkeeper but cannoned back off the post. Moments later, Harvey Bradbury’s relentless pressing paid dividends when he dispossessed the keeper, but his audacious chipped effort landed on the roof of the net.
Ryan Seager made the Hawks’ attacking pressure pay, and found himself in space on the edge of the box. Opening up his body, he slotted a precise finish into the bottom corner to make it 4-0.
With the game well won, the Hawks continued to entertain the home crowd, and Giwa-McNeil added his second of the night with 10 minutes to play. After neat build-up play, Brown fed him inside the area, and he turned sharply before drilling home for the Hawks’ fifth.
As the game approached it’s conclusion, Ethan Giwa-McNeil completed his hat-trick in a rather unorthodox manner. The ball struck Ethan in the face after Aston’s cross was punched into him by Jay Morris. The ball went over the line and despite being awarded to Harvey Bradbury at the time, it was Ethan who got the final touch.
Harvey Bradbury would eventually get his brace, firing into the bottom corner with virtually the last move of the game after a marauding run forward by Dockerill.
It was a dominant display from the Hawks, who progress onto the next round of the Servio Men’s Senior Cup. Next up is an away trip to Basingstoke in 10 days time.
