On Wednesday 7th May, Westleigh Park hosted a Schools Tournament for Year 7’s of local schools who all joined us for some 6-a-side football

The schools in attendance were:

  • Havant Academy
  • Purbrook Park

After a closely contested group stage it was Admiral Lord Nelson A, Brookfield School A, Crookhorn A, Purbrook Park progressed to the Semi-Finals with Brookfield School A and Purbrook Park progressing to the final. After a 1-1 draw in normal time, a penalty shootout would decide the winner as Brookfield School A came out on top.

Community Coach Taylor Crook, who led the tournament, shared his remarks on the day “Firstly I would like to express a huge thanks to all the schools for organising to bring a team or in some cases multiple teams to what I feel was a successful day. It was great to see an abundance of local talent take to the pitch at Westleigh Park and showcase what they are capable of.

I wish to send my congratulations to all of our participating players and we look forward to potentially hosting you back here at Havant and Waterlooville again in the future.

Given the success of this event, I’m excited to say we have already put the wheels in motion for more events like these to happen in the near future across different age groups where we have the goal of continuing to scale upwards to make for a fantastic opportunity for more schools in the area!”

Congratulations to all the players representing their schools who came and participated!
