The first bit of action came for the Hawks in the 6th minute, a ball in from the right-hand side from Devonte Stanley picked out Anderson, whose shot was closed and blocked with a secondary shot comfortable for Totton goalkeeper Gosney.

In the twenty-first minute a long ball looking to find Ryan Seager was handled outside the penalty area by Totton’s Ryan Gosney who was given a yellow card. Although Hawks fans perhaps would’ve wanted more. The resulting free kick from Leon Maloney came close but just went wide of the left-hand side post.

On the twenty-fourth minute Totton took the lead. A lose ball fell to Ethan Taylor who produced a wonderful save from Dudzinski, tipping the ball onto the post. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the ball fell the way off Scott Rendell, who on the volley, cushioned the ball into the back of the net 12 yards out.

Little more action came to end the half, Totton having a shot go close from Lee and a smart save from Havant & Waterlooville keeper Dudzinski denied Taylor.

HALF TIME: AFC TOTTON 1-0 HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE

For the first 15 minutes of the second half the Hawks were the team putting on the pressure with debutant Olly Pendlebury looking dangerous, playing Reuben Swann who tested Gosney with Pendlebury himself testing the Totton number 13 from a free kick 30 yards out.

On the sixty-eighth minute Totton doubled their lead. The ball changed possession numerous times down the right before it fell the way of Tom Blair who delivered a dangerous cross to the back post where Scott Rendell rose above Stanley to head home.

For the next 15 minutes the Hawks were on top seeking a way back into the game. A free kick on the edge of the box came inches away from finding the top corner from Harvey Laidlaw alongside another free kick from Pendlebury which the keeper claimed.

Eighty-four minutes in, a clearance ricocheted of the head of Stanley falling in the path of Craig Tanner who slipped the ball into the feet of Tony Lee who weaved through the Havant challenges but was superbly denied by Dudzinski from close range.

The points were sealed for the home side 1 minute into second half added time. 3 substitutes linked up for the home side with Tanner and Charlie Austin playing down the right-hand side with Tanner cutting the ball back to Austin who’s scuffed shot landed to Torquay loanee Ben Seymour who passed the ball into the net from a couple of yards out.

The Hawks wouldn’t go away goalless though as Leon Maloney played the ball into the penalty area which was met on the edge of the box by on rushing Harvey Laidlaw who scored the goal of the night, smashing home the ball on the half volley with 90+3 on the clock.
