After the arrival of Steve King as the new Havant and Waterlooville manager on Friday who was watching today the boys looked to show him a win against Truro City who sit 11th in the league and are also looking for a win after drawing their last 2 games. The Hawks looked to impress fans in this performance after their 2-1 loss against Eastbourne Borough on Wednesday.
The first 15 minutes of the game it was even between both teams with the hosts being the team looking the more dangerous but the defence held strong and the only shot what came was a distant effort from Blair, however all of the Hawks effort would be for nothing as Truro took the lead through Ryan Brett with him tapping home the ball what rebounded to him from the bar.
Havant and Waterlooville looked to get back into the game by playing more attacking football and this led to a number of shots from Roberts and Blair but all not hitting the target, Kealy and McCarthy also had shot but both were straight at the keeper.
Truro’s defending was relentless and they were rewarded with their effort as Neal got through on goal and with a well time strike, he hit the ball into the top corner to double the lead for Truro.
Going into the end of the first half the Hawks carried on with their attacking football but it all led to nothing with the boys being unable to finish their chances.
Half time: Hawks 0-2 Truro City
Havant and Waterlooville started off the second half with a chance from what was deflected and Pardington saved and then Kealy had an opportunity to bring the Hawks back in the game but his header glanced wide.
The Hawks continued on the front foot with their attacking football with James Roberts controlling the game with another one of his distant efforts going just wide of the Truro goal.
The game was even in the second half with not much happening with it being an attack vs defence type of game with Truro the defending team winning in that area. Havant fought hard and eventually it paid off with Faal getting round the keeper and slotting the ball home to bring the Hawks back within a goal apart.
The hosts used the goal to give them a confidence with them coming close with a Kealy effort but with a corner what was won by Truro Dean heads it home to increase their lead back to 2.
At the end Havant and Waterlooville tried to push and get another goal but they were unsuccessful and in the end the game finished with Truro coming out as winners with a 3-1 victory to the away team.
