Havant and Waterlooville Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Godden as Women’s First Team Coach.

Ian was involved with the Women’s set-up with the Hawks from it’s inception back in 2022 and was a part of our Management Team that won a League and Cup double in it’s first season in 22/23 gaining promotion to the Southern Region Women’s Football League Division One South in the process. Ian departed the Hawks at Christmas time in the 23/24 campaign where he undertook a role with Moneyfields. He’s now completed the full circle, returning to the Hawks linking up with Steve Marsh and the Women’s set-up at the club.

Speaking on his return to Westleigh Park, Ian commented “I’m delighted to be back, it feels like a homecoming after being away. I’m really excited to be working with Steve and the team going into the 2025/26.

Havant and Waterlooville FC has always been my club having lived and been brought up locally and coming back was always on my radar if the opportunity presented itself. Returning into an environment where I already know people and how people work, not only is it great to see these familiar faces but also getting back to keep pulling this club in the right direction is perfect for me. The way that the club has developed in recent years is a project I want to be a part of as this is exactly what I want to be within”

First Team Manager Steve Marsh shared his remarks on Ian’s return to the Hawks “I am delighted to welcome Ian back to the club as a First Team Coach.

We have made significant progress as a team this season, finishing runners up in the Southern Region Division 1 and our priority next season is to gain promotion into the Premier division. It was clear from the very start of my conversations with Ian about joining our coaching team that he shares our ambition and commitment in ensuring our continued progression and achieving promotion.

His enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge will undoubtedly strengthen the team and will be integral in us achieving further success. This appointment is a further example of the exciting times ahead for the club and I know this will be well received by the players and coaching team alike.”
