The Hawks began the game looking to make a fast, attacking start with the back line seeking to find the Hawks attack from a range of long passes forward. The visitors narrowly missed an opener after Dayle Grubb took a crack at goal from the edge of the box marginally missing the bottom right corner of the net. The home side bounced back from a near set back to create havoc for the seagulls with winger James Roberts skipping past the back line to take a shot at goal but was blocked and given a corner. The Hawks continued to create attacking opportunities in the opposition box with Spence finding the ball on the 18-yard line flicked on to the feet of striker Ryan Seager but failed to take his chance. A slight scare from the defence of Havant as the Seagulls whip a cross into the box from a corner and Kai Innocent failing to clear the ball out, leading to a scramble inside the box eventually Ben Morgan clearing the ball out into safety but Weston Super-Mare continuing to show their attacking qualities.

 

 Reuben Reid cut in from the left-hand side of the pitch and taking his chance against Ross Worner but hits the side netting, the game halted for a few minutes as Ross Worner received treatment following on from that shot. The visitors find the opener from James Dodd who smashes the ball into the back of the net with the help of Reuben Reid who drilled the ball across the box into his feet. In the matter of minutes, the Hawks almost found the equaliser responding fantastically to the setback, Spence took an attempt at goal, but Harris tipped the ball over the bar. The away side almost found a second after Rex Mannings took a powerful strike from the centre of the box, but Worner comes to the rescue to make a diving save. As the first half was coming to an end the Hawks continued to look for a goal back in the game, Ben Morgan fractionally missed the ball from a cross by Kai Innocent. Ross Worner got down to prevent a goal by Mannings to end a disappointing first half for Havant & Waterlooville. 

 

Half Time: Havant & Waterlooville 0 – 1 Weston-Super-Mare

 

As the second half began the Hawks came out with a lot more energy and hunger to get back into the game. Frustrations rising around Westleigh Park as James Roberts wins the ball back in an attacking area, but the whistle is blown for a foul. Havant narrowly failed to bring a goal back after Harry Jewitt-White plays a great through-ball to Roarie Deacon who fired a shot and missing the top corner. Max Harris made an exceptional save to keep Weston-Super-Mare in the lead after a strike from Jack Jebb from a free kick. Westleigh Park erupted as the Hawks then found the equaliser from James Roberts who picked his pocket to play a great through – ball into the feet of the winger to get the equaliser after a frustrating beginning to the second half. 

 

A lot of drama continued after a penalty shout was awarded a free kick after a questionable decision by the referee as Harris brings down Spence which looked inside the box. Following on from the free kick, Jebb took a shot from the edge of the box and missing the target. The Hawks began to look dominant all over the pitch and Donkor whipped the ball into the box into the feet of Roberts who drilled the ball over the bar. Great link-up play between Kwaku Donkor and Seager as he whipped the ball across the box into Seager who took his chance well but Harris with a diving save to prevent a lead for the Hawks. The visitors took the lead from James Dodd who drilled the ball past Worner into the top corner with Weston-Super-Mare being very quiet throughout the second half. The game came to another halt as tensions between the two sides began to rise after an altercation between the opposition players. Seager narrowly missed out on finding the equaliser afteran excellent solo effort dribbling past the defence but failed to get a shot on.
